Mycopunk 1.0 adds the Mycologist and X11-B, then fixes early progression bugs

The October 20 full release adds a new employee, mission, weapon, region, and mastery system. Patch 2.0.1 arrived the next day with fixes for two progression checks and several achievements.

THE SHORT VERSION

  • Mycopunk left Early Access on October 20 with the Mycologist, Population Control mission, Diffraction Driver weapon, Snowball Grenade, and X11-B region.
  • The new Fulfillments system tracks mastery and can reward cosmetics, but the developers say some progress is retroactive and some is not.
  • The October 21 patch fixed two Fulfillment progress checks and two achievements; the developers also listed a Drop Pod skin lighting issue as known.

Version 1.0 closes the Early Access chapter

Pigeons at Play announced Mycopunk’s full release on October 20, ending an Early Access period that began in July 2025. The Steam announcement calls it the game’s official full release and says version 1.0 includes new content, improvements, and polish. The store page lists the launch price at $14.99 and showed a 50% discount through November 3 when checked. The offer is a live US Steam listing and may differ by region.

A returning player does not need to relearn the game’s premise. The New Atlas Hazard Crew is still a team of robot workers sent to clean up a fungal catastrophe. What changed is the amount of structure around that core loop: one new employee, a high-density mission, a new region, more ways to track mastery, and a handful of changes to the hub and equipment. The developer’s 1.0 post is the clearest place to separate those additions from the first small fixes that followed.

A new employee and region change the mission mix

The Mycologist is the new playable employee. The developer says she was part of the first expedition to New Atlas and remained stranded after the fungal outbreak. Her kit includes Sporelift, Fungal Skewer, and a passive infection ability. Players rescue her in Expedition Alpha before using her upgrades. That makes the new character part of a mission progression, not an immediately selectable option for every new save.

Population Control is a new standard mission built around clearing areas with high enemy density. It may also bring in Abominations. The new Diffraction Driver is an ion scattergun that fires a short-range cone; its halo can be spun up to narrow and lengthen the spread, and the developer says it unlocks with resources after level 10. The Snowball Grenade is a cryo grenade unlocked through X11-B.

X11-B is a new region on New Atlas’s moonlet, described by the developers as a higher-difficulty area for players who have grown used to the earlier missions. This gives returning crews a new place to test loadouts. The update also adds a small special assignment called The Couch, where players help Roachard recover a couch for the hub. The developers say characters can now sit in some chairs, a small change that is part of the hub update rather than a new mission system.

Enemy balance and controls changed too

The 1.0 announcement is more than a content list. It also slows Missilehead attacks and lowers their damage, reduces the Devastator’s gravity field, and slightly lowers the maximum enemy count for solo runs on threat levels 3 and 4. Optical Jammers have less health and appear less often. Those changes are especially relevant to players who stopped during Early Access because a mission’s enemy mix felt punishing; the update notes show exactly which knobs the developers changed, without promising that the whole game is easier.

Some of the most practical changes affect screens and controls. Players can switch off damage numbers separately from status text, the controller quip wheel has improved interactions, and the weapon inspection action moved into that wheel. The developers also lowered kill counts for certain background weapon tasks and delayed Overtime and Ouroboros backlog tasks until their missions are unlocked. These adjustments reduce menu and objective friction while keeping the mission structure intact.

The 1.0 post says all text is now translated and lists fixes for Japanese characters displaying incorrectly and for dialogue that could overflow in non-English versions. English is still the only language the Steam store lists with full audio; the other supported languages are shown for interface and subtitles. A returning player choosing a language should check that table instead of reading “all text” as a promise of full voice acting in every language.

Fulfillments add goals, but not every old action counts

Version 1.0 adds Fulfillments, the developers’ name for an in-game mastery and achievement system. Many Fulfillments award cosmetics. The 1.0 announcement warns that some are retroactive and some are not, depending on which statistics the game tracked before release. An Early Access player should check the Fulfillments screen rather than assume every earlier action has already unlocked its reward.

The update also changes the hub and Drop Pod, brings sit emotes for employees, adjusts loadout buttons, and establishes a clear mission-failure condition: the mission fails if nobody boards the Drop Pod. The current Steam listing describes the game as both single-player and online co-op, with four-player co-op supported. These systems are useful to a returning team because they change how missions are completed and how long-term unlocks are tracked.

The launch was followed by several specific fixes

The developers posted patch 2.0.1 on October 21. It fixes the Fulfillment for activating relay towers and the one for collecting Saxito bags, both of which could fail to progress. The same post lists the Cranius and Bunker Buster achievements as fixed, along with several translation corrections. If an Early Access player began one of those goals and saw no progress, the patch notes give a specific reason to check the updated counter.

The October 21 note also described missing light materials after equipping a Drop Pod skin and suggested restarting. Patch 2.0.2, dated October 22, then listed a fix for materials disappearing from certain HUB terminals when a pod skin was equipped, plus a separate correction to the Oxythane skin’s color. The later wording is more specific than the earlier lighting warning; it does not explicitly identify every instance of that warning as resolved. Treat the October 21 report as a dated issue, rather than advice that the same problem must still be active.

Patch 2.0.3 also changed a control that may matter more than the cosmetic warning: camera movement from weapon recoil now follows the screenshake slider in gameplay options. It separately addresses move-input problems in the Planetary Defense targeting window, particularly when keyboard input is used with a connected controller whose sticks send unwanted input. These notes describe specific controls and conditions, so check the installed build and the relevant setting when comparing your experience.

One review describes a substantial PC change

CGMagazine reviewed the PC version on October 22. Its reviewer says the 1.0 build changed enough to surprise someone who had played earlier versions, while keeping the original co-op shooter foundation. That is one reviewer’s assessment, not a measured comparison of all Early Access builds. It is useful context for a returning player who wants to know whether the full release is only a label change; the developer’s feature list confirms several concrete additions.

Steam lists single-player and online co-op support for up to four players, English full audio, and interface or subtitle options in nine additional languages. That gives a returning player a choice between testing the new region alone and bringing a full squad. The store page also shows the current launch promotion ending November 3 and a separate Supporter Pack. The developers describe the Supporter Pack as cosmetic items for players who want to back the team. If your main question is whether the core 1.0 game added missions and progression, the feature list answers yes; if you want to know whether an old Fulfillment should already be unlocked, check that individual counter.
